Plastic-Free July with Sieme

Did you hear that this july is plastic-free?

At Sieme, we are committed to reducing unnecessary waste and conserving the materials around us. This month, we are challenging ourselves and everyone else to participate in the Plastic Free July campaign! What does this mean? Throughout the month of July, people around the world come together with one common goal: to reduce plastic waste. Plastic is an extremely accessible resource in present day society. It is cheap, easy, and durable. However, it is overwhelming our landfills, kills wildlife, and sheds microplastics that pollute our water systems and food supply. Below, we recommend 5 amazingly easy product swaps from companies we love that can help us all reduce our plastic waste!

Stasher’s Silicone ziplock bags

Stasher produces ziplock-type reusable bags that are more durable, eco-friendly, and leak-proof compared to the plastic alternatives. Stasher bags are perfect for food storage, snacks, oven cooking, microwaving, freezing, or somewhere to keep miscellaneous items such as toiletries and silicone is more antimicrobial than plastic! Additionally, if the bag is damaged in any way, Stasher will upcycle it to save all materials and keep the bag out of the landfill! How cool is that?!

Keurig’s Reusable Coffee Cups

Each year, approximately 10.5 billion Keurig cups are purchased despite the thousands of years each cup would take to decompose in a landfill. Reusable Keurig cups can help reduce the number of Keurig cups bought per year and are also considered a cheaper alternative. Not only is it compatible with hundreds of varieties of K-cup pods, but it can also be used for any sort of ground coffee.

Woollow’s Dryer Balls

These reusable dryer sheets are the perfect way to reduce static, provide a fresher smell, and soften each laundry load. Woollow’s Wool Dryer Balls are made 100% from wool sourced from southwestern Pennsylvania. Additionally, each ball lasts 8-10 years while reducing electricity use while drying clothes. Help your clothes to last longer and replace single-use dryer sheets with this eco-friendly alternative.

Bee’s Wrap Reusable Food wraps

Bee’s wraps are a sustainable alternative to plastic food packaging that can be used daily. Made from organic cotton infused with a blend of tree resin, plant oil, and beeswax. These wraps can be used to store food, pack sandwiches, and snacks on the go. Additionally, Bee’s Wraps will allow your food to stay fresher for longer. Perfect for a hot summer day or weekend trip! We especially love to use them to preserve our beloved pecorino and parmesan cheeses!

Envirosax Reusable bags

Envirosax is our favorite go-to reusable bag. Collapsable to extremely small sizes, they are the perfect size to throw in any purse and ensure you always have an extra bag. Cassandra, our founder, loves them for their durability, longevity and beautiful patterns. She never leaves home without them! The colors, patterns, and transparency in production are all factors that contribute to the beautiful bags Envirosax offers!
